Match.com...Advice Needed

I want a boyfriend. I know the saying...."You will find him when you stop looking." But, it is hard to stop looking when you feel ready. With this in mind, I have been contemplating the idea of rejoining Match.com. I may be going out on a limb here, but I am hoping that more than two people actually read this blog and will be willing to offer an opinion...a little dating advice, if you will.

Here is my dilemma...

For those of you who have tried online dating, you can understand what I mean when I say it is often exhausting. Do I have the patience to weed through the array of weirdo's? Then again, if I don't put myself out there, am I limiting potential options? What do you think?

All Match.com profiles have a little headline...some are great, some are lame. Here is an example: "Director of Awesome." If I do rejoin, I will need to post a clever headline for myself. If you are in favor of me reinstating the membership, any and all witty headline suggestions will be greatly appreciated. (Of course I will let you know which one I choose.)

Veggie Burgers

I've been craving veggie burgers. Not the frozen, store-bought burgers....real homemade deliciousness filled with beans and veggies. I am not a huge fan of cooking, partly because I don't think I am good at it and partly because it makes one more mess that I have to clean up. Oh yes...and because I have an extremely picky 9-year-old eater that prefers to only consume mac'n'cheese and goldfish.

Lately I have been trying to get creative in the kitchen because I know the health benefits and money savings are well worth my efforts. So...I'm going to experiment and make some veggie burgers. I found a recipe online that looks pretty great. Hopefully I can create the Ultimate Veggie Burger and even coax my daughter into eating it.

Wish me luck on my veggie burger cooking endeavor. :)

Thankful Thursday

I could not be more thankful for the laughs I receive from my 9-year-old daughter on a daily basis. Yesterday she calls me at work and tells me that she needs me to stop at the store on the way home.

Here is our conversation....

Me: Hello
Hayley: Hey. Are you going to the store on the way home?
Me: No. What do you need?
Hayley: I need you to pick me up some eyleliner.
Me: For what? (The girl is only 9...geez.)
Hayley: To look pretty.

I'm sorry...I don't know what I was thinking. On top of that I got a call back a second later reminding me to also grab mascara. I'm not ready for this stuff...and I don't think this pretty girl needs make-up anyway. Girls.;)

Drake

This may not be a big deal to some people, but it's pretty huge to me. I'm even feeling a little elite today. ;) Why...because I totally met Drake last night! You know that feeling you get when you meet a celebrity that you think is so cool? That is the feeling I had!

Here's the story....

My sister's boyfriend, Andy and I were at the airport picking up my daughter and sister from a trip. We were sitting on a luggage cart by the baggage claim (tired and soaked from rain)...waiting on the delayed flight. Andy is like, "Dude, that was Drake that just walked by." Of course I was like, No way!" We walk outside after him and sure enough it was Drake! I snapped a couple of pictures with my phone and lingered for a minute before mustering the courage to say hello. Then I did it. I walked right up and told him that I loved his music. As a matter of fact, I was listening to it on the way to the airport. He totally shook my hand! :)

It was just so super cool to meet an artist that I love. I wish I had a photo of me and Drake, but that was a no-go since I didn't bother to wear make-up to the airport...and I was tired and soaked from rain. Still an awesome experience! Courtney + Drake = BFF's!

On a cute side note, I told Hayley about my celebrity encounter when her flight arrived. She was disappointed that she missed him, but says, "Which hand did he shake? Give me a high five with it." I did and asked why....she says, "because I want a little Drake on my hand." How cute is that?

Three Things

There is a three-things post circling around blog land. I decided to join. Here goes.

Three names I go by:

Courtney, Court, and Mom. Some friends/co-workers also refer to me as C-Dizzle. I don't know why. They just do.

Three places I have been:

I have never traveled outside of the United States, although I am eager to. I have been to Canada once, but some say it doesn't count. Anyway, I have been to Niagara Falls, Disney World, and Ocracoke Island in Outer Banks, NC.

Three Favorite Drinks:

I love water. I drink it a lot.
We all know I love wine. Pinot Noir is my very favorite.
Starbucks triple venti soy late. Good.

Three jobs I have had:

I worked at Billy Bob's Pizza when I was a teenager (think Chucky Cheese). I was a "party hostess" and once had to dress up in a Barney suit. It was humiliating.

IDR, aka Internal Data Resources. It was the most horrible job I have ever had in my life The 40-year old owner left his wife for the 22-year old Human Resources manager. Classy.

Pollyanna's Flowers. This was a little flower shop in my hometown and the best job I have ever had. My family knew the owners, so I worked there for a summer. I worked creating flower arrangements or delivering bouquets. Literally, everyone was always happy to see me. So much fun.

Three TV shows I watch:

I don't watch much TV. As a matter of fact, these are really the only shows I do watch...Grey's Anatomy, American Idol, and Glee. (Side note - I am almost convinced that I could quit my day job and join Glee to sing only Lady Gaga songs. More on this later.)

Three places I would like to visit:

There are so many, but I will go with Napa Valley, the yoga farm (in Costa Rica...http://www.yogafarmcostarica.org/), and somewhere in Italy.

Three favorite retro TV shows:

Kate & Allie
Family Ties
The Facts of Life

Three Places I have lived:

Conyers, Georgia
Covington, Georgia
Roswell, Georgia
So not exciting.

Three things I am looking forward to:

Falling in love, continuously growing as a person ,and making memories with my daughter

Three people I am tagging:

Stacie, Julia, Shelly

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for good friends and delicious food. My friend-since-6th grade, Caroline came to visit last Saturday night. We made a trip to Whole Foods to pick up some vegetables and a bottle of wine and headed home to cook dinner. I have to be honest...Caroline did most of the cooking while I focused most of my attention on the wine. We ended up with a pretty amazing dish...pasta with broccoli, squash, zucchini, lettuce, beets, scallions, sweet potatoes, green beans, asparagus, and scallions....so good.

(Caroline preparing dinner)

We sat on the porch, listened to reggae music, ate a healthy meal, sipped red wine, and laughed. I believe that good friends, wholesome food, and savory wines are good for the soul.

Just look at how yum!

Thank you Caroline, for being a great friend... and cook.
